The School of Food Technology, Nutrition and Bio-engineering, Makerere University in partnership with the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Cooperatives, and the European Union announces a training course on sanitary and phyto-sanitary (SPS) measures in the food value chain in Uganda.

Objective: To train participants in sanitary and phyto-sanitary measures for ensuring the safety of food products destined for local, regional and international markets. Participants will learn about the SPS concept and measures; developing simple quality management systems; risk analysis and mitigation; auditing; documentation and traceability; national, regional and international regulations governing SPS measures.

The Department of Food Technology & Nutrition, Makerere University announces a short course in nutrition called Life skills for a healthier you.

The course will empower you to make good food choices to attain and maintain good health.

Topics to be covered will, among others, include nutrition self assessment techniques, diet management and meal planning for people with non-communicable diseases

Who should apply: Every one interested in good health and well being

When: The course will be held every Saturday from 16th June 14st July 2012, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Venue: School of Food Technology, Nutrition & Bioengineering, Makerere University main campus

Course fees: UShs 350,000 per person (for whole course)

The Food Technology and Business Incubation Centre announces short skills training courses:

Participants will learn how to process and market high quality products like natural fruit juices, jams, yoghurt, and cakes.

Who should apply: Youths and women entrepreneurs, intending entrepreneurs, graduates & students on vacation.
Venue: Training will run from 8:30am-5:00pm every day at the School of Food Technology, Nutrition & Bioengineering, Makerere University main campus. 
Course fees: UShs 350,000 per module
